Long Lake to Floodwood Pond

St. Regis Canoe Outfitters

This popular one way trip features beautiful scenery, good fishing, and numerous campsites.  The trip includes nine miles on Long Lake and about 5 miles on the Raquette River before Raquette Falls,  the first of two portages (each about 1.3 miles).   This portage passes the interior Ranger Station at the historic site of Mother Johnson's Inn operated in the 1800's that was once famous for their flapjacks.  Six more miles on the river, a short easy upstream section on Stony Creek and Stony Creek Ponds brings one to the second portage that crosses the low divide separating the Raquette R. watershed and the Saranac River watershed.  Scenic Upper Saranac Lake leads to Fish Creek, connecting a series of smaller ponds.
