Specialty Guided Trips

We offer a variety of pre-scheduled guided trips which are open to the public. Each of these trips includes a seat in a canoe, guide, transport (when applicable), and paddling equipment. We can offer the sunset tour and the stargazer tour as a private (not open to the public) trip as well. Please give us a call if you are interested in setting up a private outing!

Stargazer Guided Outing (paddling optional)

View the night sky with a new perspective! This trip will be done in a war canoe, so paddling is optional. We will meet at Second Pond Boat Launch and paddle toward the Lower Locks to view the stars. Your guide will familiarize you with the local constellations and answer any questions you may have. This trip is intentionally offered during the new moon each month, meaning we will have the darkest conditions possible. This trip can also be done as a private guided trip (not open to the public). Please contact us for more info.

Cost: $65 per person

Time: 7:30pm to 10pm

Guided Sunset Tours

The best sunsets are the ones you see from the water! This 2 hour trip will introduce you to one of the best sunset venues this area has to offer; Lower Saranac Lake. We will paddle from Second Pond Boat Launch out to Lower Saranac Lake (near Bluff Island), watch the sunset and paddle back. This trip is "paddling optional" so you can focus on taking photos and enjoying the scenery.

Cost: $65 per person

Time: Varies by date, but trip is 2 hours.

Dates Offered: Dates for these trips will be added soon. Check back for details!

Guided "Slow Birding" Tours

"Slow Birding" encourages you to take your time and observe the behavior of individual birds in their natural habitat. How do you do that from a boat? Great Question! This trip is done in our war canoes, meaning you can enjoy looking for and watching birds while one guide slowly moves you through the water, and the other helps you identify what you're looking at. These trips take place on the Saranac River (Great Blue Herons, Belted Kingfishers, Warblers, Osprey, Bald Eagles, Hawks) and Little Clear Pond (a popular place to see Loons). Mikayla Ploof (wildlife photographer and board member for the New York Audubon) will be our birding expert for these trips.

Cost: $75 per person

Time: 7am to 10:30am

Dates Offered: May 24th, July 12th, August 23rd, September 13th

Seasonal Guided Trips

Starting in September, we offer a "Fall Paddler Series". These outings focus on viewing Fall Foliage.  Dates and information for these trips will be added soon! Have a seasonal trip idea that you think we should implement? Let us know by sending us an email.
