Lake Lila to Low's Lower Dam

St. Regis Canoe Outfitters

Lake Lila to Low's Lower Dam is a three day trip on both large lakes and smaller streams.  This is a wonderful trip for people looking for a rugged and remote wilderness experience.  The trip covers a beautiful part of the park with a rich history.  Lake Lila is  the former site of  Seward & Lila (Vanderbilt) Webb's Great Camp NeHaSane.  Low's Lake belonged to Abbot Augustus Low.  A.A. Low was a very innovative inventor and business man.  (For more details on the history refer to Adirondack Experience on the history of A.A. Low.)  There are six portages over variable terrain, the longest of which is slightly less than a mile.  We will camp on Lake Lila or Bog Lake the first night and Low's Lake the second night. A hike up Mount Frederica on day one and Low's Ridge on day three are enjoyable options with fantastic views.  There are wonderful opportunities for viewing wildlife.  Our trip meets at our Saranac Lake Base. Your guide will provide tips for paddling, portaging, and camp setup, in addition to cooking amazing food.
