Advocating for a Better World

We are committed to taking care of the environment and the community.

St. Regis Canoe Outfitters

Responsible for the Environment & Community

Our business is built on our love for nature and the desire to share this love with others.  Everyone who works at SRCO is not only passionate about paddling, but devoted to the health of our environment.  We make an effort to take care of our natural environment by cleaning up after ourselves and others.  Every year we take a leadership role in organizing a river clean up.  We personally get out in the woods to clear trails responsibly in coordination with the DEC.  We use recycled paper products and reuse plastic bags to minimize our foot print on the earth.  We recycle paper, plastic, and glass for ourselves as well as our customers as they return from canoe outings.  We power our downtown store with Clean Energy that comes from wind and solar.

We are committed to community.  We have made it our priority to educate our customers about how to "Leave no trace" while still enjoying their time in the wilderness.  We have built a culture of conscious paddlers who are committed to taking care of the wilderness.  It is only through a committed community that we all can enjoy our experiences in the wilderness.  The health of our environment affects the health of the Adirondack community.  We welcome your participation and coordination in cleaning up our woods and waters.  We encourage you to do your part in "leaving no trace" and in going the extra mile to take care of the woods and waters.

We're committed to preserving recreational access to clean water and to promoting stewardship of our wilderness. We work closely with national organizations and local groups  to help take care of our rivers, lakes and ponds.  We coordinate our efforts with  American Rivers, the NY DEC, Adirondack Mountain Club, other local businesses, and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.  We carry merchandise in our store from socially responsible businesses who use recycled materials to make their products including  but not limited to Outdoor Research, Backpacker's Pantry, Buff,  Chaco, ExOfficio, NRS, MSR, and others.
