February 12-19, 2017
This guided trip will include six days of day trip paddling on rivers and springs in central Florida. We will be housed at Blue Springs State Park for the first three nights and in a Bed & Breakfast for the remaining four nights (lodging, food, boat equipment included).
We'll begin the trip in the Blue Springs area of Florida where we will spend three nights in cabins and cook our own food. Possible rivers we may paddle include: Juniper Springs Run, Rock Springs Run, Wekiva River, or Econlockhatchee River. For the second half of the trip we will drive down to Lithia, Florida to stay in a comfortable Bed & Breakfast. Here we will choose from the following rivers depending on conditions and weather: Alafia River, Hillsborough River, Myakka River, Manatee River, or Little Manatee River.
For Reservation and Deposits please call 518.891.1838 or email us at email@example.com.
Total trip cost is $1895. Please call to make a reservation. Deposit ($950) should be paid by credit card. Balance is due November 30, 2016 .
What is included?
-All lodging including staying in selected cabins and bed and breakfasts.
-All food--from 3PM day one to 9AM of day eight. Lunches will be packed and taken with us each day. At Blue Springs State Park cabins we will eat together with family style meals. On the second half of the trip we will eat out at local restaurants three nights and cook out one night.
-Canoes, paddles, and PFD's
-Daily shuttle transport to and from the river as necessary.
You will need to provide:
Day pack, all clothing and raingear, river shoes, all personal articles, kneeling pad, sun protection, and hat.
We can expect the weather to be warm in the day time during this part of February. Days are generally in the 60s to low 70s with nights in the 40s. Some days may be warm enough for shorts but generally you'll want to carry a sweater (and even gloves) for the shady streams. Extreme temperatures range from 80 to about 30 degrees. I'd recommend being prepared for daytime temperatures in the 50 degree range although rare for this time of year. Most days are expected to be sunny and you will want to take precautions against sunburn. We do expect to beat the bug season.
Food, Health, Experience:
This trip is open to experienced paddlers in good shape. We'll be paddling on both small spring fed streams and larger rivers. All participants should be comfortable paddling 10 river miles or about four hours a day.
We will ask you to fill out a brief health and food form.
We look forward to having you join us!!
